The University of São Paulo has a population of approximately 150 thousand people (127 thousand undergraduate and graduate students, 17 thousand technical and administrative employees and six thousand teachers) and has 14 campuses, spread in the cities of Bauru, Lorena, Piracicaba, Pirassununga, Ribeirão Preto, Santos, São Carlos and São Paulo, besides to teaching units, museums and research centers in other locations.
The work group Environmental Policy at the University was created by the need for a document to guide and legitimize socioenvironmental actions at the University of São Paulo, in order to promote a more effective environmental management in accordance with the principles of the University.
